Lighthouse Lecture Series

  • Date: Saturday, November 15.
  • Time: 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • Place: 45500 Lighthouse Road
       (in the Fog Signal Building at the lighthouse)
  • Cost: $5 per person
    Nik Epanchin, Lighthouse Board president, will give a talk on Northern Elephant Seals. For the past 13 years, Nik has been a Point Reyes National Seashore winter docent, specifically trained to interpret elephant seals to the public. He also serves as a docent during the grey whale migrations and helps interpret the Point Reyes Lighthouse.

    Nik's presentation will cover a brief the history of the evolution of this remarkable and unique mammal, locations where it currently hauls out on land with an emphasis on the Point Reyes National Seashore, the life cycle of this animal and little known data and facts that enable this animal to survive.

    Nik's talk will be from 4:00-5:00 p.m. $5 per person.  Light refreshments served.
